Over 10 BMW riders went to the
Temburong District to participate
in the Motorrad Care Cartons
2020 yesterday.
The irst-ever such event in
Brunei was organised by BMW Mo-
torrad Brunei. General Manager
of QAF Auto Alisa Khoo and mem-
bers of QAF Auto participated in
the ride.
According to Alisa, BMW Motor-
rad Care Cartons is adopting a con-
cept followed by BMW Malaysia.
Five less fortunate families and
registered orphans in the Temburong
District received the contributions.
“We plan to do this every year.
The interesting part of the event
is that all the contributions came
from BMW customers and us. This
is a way for us to contribute back to
the community,” she said.
Commencing at QAF Centre in
Beribi, the event kicked off with the
unveiling of the new BMW Motor-
rad S 1000 RR by Alisa Khoo.
Riders were then lagged off
and later they stopped at the
parking lot next to Sultan Haji
Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge for a
group photo before heading to the
Temburong District.
The group then stopped at Bukit
Patoi Recreational Park in Jalan
Labu, before heading to the resi-
dences of the recipients. Contribu-
tions included basic necessities.
Recipients Eveline Chung and
Rohani Rahim expressed their ap-
preciation to BMW Motorrad Brunei
for the contribution.
“This is out of my expectation to
receive such a contribution. Since I
moved to Temburong, I am no lon-
ger working and we are happy to
receive this,” said Eveline Chung.
The group had lunch at Freme
Rainforest Lodge in Jalan Batang
Duri, before making their inal stop
at Pekan Bangar.

Four student athletes received the
Sports Excellence Incentive during
a handover ceremony by the Minis-
try of Education (MoE) through the
Brunei Darussalam Sports Schools
Council (MSSSBD), Department
of Co-Curriculum Education, for
achieving excellence in the 11
th
ASE-
AN Schools Games (ASG 11) in 2019.
The students received certii-
cates of recognition and cash.
The four are Mohd Mahadir @
Danish Naqiuddin bin Mahmud from
the Sports School for obtaining the
Silver medal in the
Pencak Silat’s
Pu-
tra Men’s Single raking in 447 points;
Daniel Riveera anak Layang from St
Angela’s School for reaching the
inals (top 8) in the 100-metre and
200-metre sporting events with a
time of 11.18s (100 metres) and 22.94
(200 metres); Shana Marie Holmes
from Jerudong International School
(JIS) for reaching the inals (top 8) in
the 800-metre sporting event with
a time of 2:41:63; and Ashley Chai
who achieved the inals (top 8) for
the 200-metre backstroke with a
time of 2:42:97.
Deputy Minister of Education
Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Ro-
maizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh was
the guest of honour at the event
held at the Main Hall of the Depart-
ment of Curriculum Development,
Ministry of Education yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Core Edu-
cation) at MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini
Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin
and Deputy Permanent Secretary
(Core Education) at the MoE Aliud-
din bin Haji Abdul Rahman were
also present.
The event began with the recita-
tion of
Surah Al-Fatihah
and a video
of the ASG 11, followed by the pre-
sentation of the Sports Excellence
Incentive handover ceremony by
the guest of honour.
It concluded with the recitation
of
Doa Kesyukuran
.
The presentation of the Sports
Excellence Incentive is as an ap-
preciation for the athletes’ achieve-
ments both at regional and interna-
tional levels.
The provision of incentives is
also an encouragement and moti-
vation for student athletes to con-
tinue to work hard to improve their
performance to achieve success

The Ministry of Education
through MSSSBD is a member
of the Asian Schools Sports Fed-
eration (ASSF), Association of
South-East Asian Nation (ASEAN)
Schools Sports Council (ASSC)
and the Asian Schools Football
Federation (ASFF). One of the ac-
tivities in ASSF, ASSC and ASFF
is organising sports tournaments
at school level, and throughout
MSSSBD’s participation in the
championships, athletes under
MSSSBD have achieved some
success and excellence.
