The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China
in Brunei Darussalam yesterday donated
35,000 face masks and 5,000 bottles of hand
sanitiser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs
(MoRA) yesterday.

The minister later handed over the
donation to Acting Director of Islamic
Studies and Acting Director of Mosque
Affairs to be used in religious and Arabic
schools as well as mosques, suraus and
religious halls.

courtesy call from the ambassador at the
Dhifayah Room.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and
Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin
Haji Timbang was also present.
The Government of Canada donated
personal protective equipment (PPE) to the
Ministry of Health yesterday as part of its
support to ASEAN partners in combatting
the COVID19 pandemic.

120,000 pieces of N95 masks to Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Haji
Abdul Manap bin Othman at a ceremony at
the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) building.
On the donation, the high commissioner
said, “Canada remains committed to
engaging regularly with ASEAN and we are
working closely with our ASEAN partners
to battle COVID19. We are pleased that
the health security capacity that Canada
helped built in the ASEAN region including
the ASEAN Emergency Operations Centre

Canada donates 120K masks to MoH

Centre, has strengthened the region’s
capability in ighting the pandemic.
“Through Canada’s USD4.5 million
Weapons Threat Reduction Programme
(WTRP), we provided 690,000 PPE to
AS E AN memb e r s t a t e s a n d t h e
ASEAN Secretariat.”
Canada’s WTRP has been working with
the ASEAN Secretariat and itsmember states
since 2013 to mitigate biological threats. It
enhanced the capacity of ASEAN partners to
prevent, detect and response to all manners
of biological threats.
Canada committed BND5.1 million to
the International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) to support the provision of COVID19
diagnostic kits, equipment and training in
nuclear-derived detection techniques. It also
committed BND61.6 million to the coalition
to support COVID19 vaccine development
and research.

of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS)
handed over inancial assistance to a ire

The inancial assistance was from funds

Financial assistance for fire victim

August 8.
The assistance was aimed at lightening the
inancial burden of Hajah Badariah.

The event organised by the Women’s Bureau
of Kampong Teraja on August 9 was held to
bolster the economy of Teraja Longhouse
in Labi.

events will be held to cater to local tourists
seeking domestic activities and attractions due
