Brunei Darussalam recorded no
new COVID 19 cases yesterday
keeping the national tally of
con irmed cases at 142.
The
Ministry
of
Health
(MoH) has taken 283 samples
for
the
SARS CoV 2
virus
test in the past 24 hours and
has carried out 43,690 tests
since January.
The information about the
COVID 19 situation in the country
was shared by the MoH in its daily
release yesterday.

Day 2020 at the Muara Recreational
Beach, as well as in conjunction with
PPNBD Brunei-Muara District’s ‘Earth
Tribe: Plastic Tide Turners Challenge
Badge’ programme.
PPNBD is holding a series of
cleaning campaigns at ive beach-
es with the aim of collecting over
200kg of plastic bottles and non-
plastic waste materials.

The Green Depot invited Belait
District residents to participate in
recycling efforts by bringing recy-
clable material to their ifth recy-
cling drive at the STKRJ Lorong Tiga
Seria Mosque from 8am to noon on
August 23.
Items accepted are paper,
cardboard, metal, aluminium, plas-
tic bottles and electronic waste
(computer waste).
The event aims to encourage
the residents to practise recycling
while reducing the amount of solid
waste that goes into land ills.

their recycling records online and
receive monetary rewards.
Green Depot is a project under
Green Brunei, supported by Bru-
nei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd. It
aims to contribute to the nation’s
goal of moving towards zero waste.
It was established in Decem-
ber 2018 for communities to save
through recycling as a means to
promote better waste management
efforts while providing money-
saving habits. Since its establish-
ment, it has managed to collect
over 36,000kgs of recyclables from
over 800 users.

The elderly, who are rich in experi-
ence and wisdom, should always
be respected and cared for, Minis-
ter of Culture, Youth and Sports Ma-
jor General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri
Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin
Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato
Seri Paduka Haji Abidin said.
He made these comments as
the guest of honour at the Silver
Jubilee celebration of the Belait
District Senior Citizen Association
(PWE) at the RPN Kampong Pandan
Language and Literature Bureau
(DBP) yesterday.

ka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan
expressed gratitude in attending
the association’s milestone.
The minister re lected on the
members of the Belait District PWE
who contributed to the associa-
tion’s success.
The minister said, “A journey
that spans 25 years is not some-
thing to be taken lightly. As in a
shared collective mindset, it is
possible to achieve the goal of
inspiring and encouraging se-
nior citizens to take part in com-
munity work, along with religious
and national activities, through
coordinated cooperation.”
On the association’s growth
Care for the elderly always,

from 25 members in 1995 to 126 at
present, Major General (Rtd) Dato
Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminud-
din Ihsan said, “This is proof of the
members’ hard work and dedica-
tion, which resulted in the asso-
ciation’s resilience in continuing
to conduct activities throughout
the years.
“The question that constantly
needs to be asked is: What is the
impact that the association wants
to achieve for the community, not
only at present, but in the future for
realising the nation’s goals of Brunei
Vision 2035.”

Haji Kassim spoke on the 25-year
legacy of the Belait District PWE as
well as the achievements and ac-
tivities conducted every year.
The minister was presented a
souvenir, before being invited to
cut a cake. The minister toured the
booths showcasing the associa-
tion’s activities and services.

cleaning activity.
The programme, organised by
the Temburong District Scout Asso-
ciation, aims to instil a sense of love
and care for the environment in ev-
eryday life, especially the beauty of
beaches as one of the matters that
needs to be applied in youth as part
of life-long learning.
PPNBD held several activi-
ties such as planting saplings and
beach cleaning to mark World En-
vironment Day 2020 themed ‘Time
for Nature’.
PPNBD started the World Envi-
ronment Day celebration on June 5
with the planting of durian saplings,
honey bananas and sugarcane
around the association’s headquar-
ters in Kampong Lekiun of the Tem-
burong District.
