The National Football Association of Brunei

Darussalam (NFABD) stepped up its ef-

forts to educate local coaches with knowl-

edge on the changes in football laws dur-

ing the Summary of IFAB (International

Football Association Board) Laws of the

Game 2020/2021 Changes at the NFABD

House recently.

Coaching representatives from several

Brunei Super League (BSL) clubs attended the

seminar on several changes to the IFAB laws,

which have been recently introduced.

The seminar, presented by Yusof Zaki,

explained the amendments in the IFAB

laws including being allowed to make

‰ive substitutions.

Indera SC Assistant Head Coach Muham-

mad Edie Fakhri Ajun bin Abdullah welcomed

the efforts of NFABD, who strives to expand

knowledge on the laws.

MUNICH (AP) — The coronavirus pandemic

has changed almost everything about the

Champions League. Empty stadiums, games

in August and a tournament in Portugal.

But Bayern Munich keep winning, and

Robert Lewandowski keeps scoring.

The Poland striker scored twice and set

up two more goals as Bayern beat Chelsea

4•1 on Saturday for a 7•1 win on aggregate

in Munich to book a ticket to Lisbon.

Bayern have won 18 straight competitive

games going back to February and has not

lost since December. Next up is a quarter‰inal

against Barcelona, which beat Napoli 3•1.

“We wanted to win the game and show

we were picking up where we left off,”

Bayern coach Hansi Flick told

Sky

, adding

of Barcelona, “As with any opponent, we

have the requisite respect and we’re going

to prepare well.”

Lewandowski has 13 goals in seven Cham-

pions League games this season — putting

Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 17 within reach

— and 53 in 44 across all competitions.

Bayern started with a 3•0 lead from the

‰irst leg in February and took the lead on the

night after 10 minutes when Lewandowski

scored from the penalty spot after he’d been

tripped by goalkeeper Willy Caballero when

through on goal.

It was a familiar story for Chelsea after a

season peppered by goalkeeping blunders.

Caballerowas starting after Kepa Arrizabalaga

was dropped to the bench following a string

of errors.

Lewandowski was the key man again for

Bayern’s second goal, holding up the ball in

the 24

th

and turning to play in Ivan Perisic,

who ran onto the pass from the right and hit

the ball past Caballero.

PARIS (AFP) - Manchester United, Inter

Milan and Sevilla headline a quintet of

former champions travelling to Ger-

many for a remodelled eight-team

straight knockout tournament that will

crown the winner of a Europa League

campaign heavily disrupted by the

coronavirus pandemic.

All games from the quarter-‰inals

onwards in this season’s competition will

be played behind closed doors as one-

off ties across four venues - Cologne,

Duisburg, Dusseldorf and Gelsenkirchen

- following a ‰ive-month interruption.

While a Champions League berth still

awaits the victor of the ‰inal in Cologne

on August 21, much has changed since the

COVID•19 outbreak that brought European

football to a standstill in March.

“There are rules and regulations on

the bubble that’s going to travel. We’ve

got to stick together, stay together in and

around the hotel and the training ground,”

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

said of the strict health protocols clubs

must respect.

Players and staff will undergo virus

testing before departing for Germany and

again on the eve of a match once arriving,

a process repeated for each subsequent

game in the ‰inal tournament.

UEFA has advised teams to travel on

charter ‰lights and minimise contact with

the general public, strongly recommending

the use of exclusive hotels - to which

players will largely be con‰ined - in order

to avoid potential cross-contamination.

Maskswill not be required for substitutes

and coaching staff but they must maintain

social distancingwhen seated, with players

instructed to limit contact as much as

possible when warming up.

Match balls will be disinfected before

kick-off and at half-time.

United, the 2017 winners, face FC

Copenhagen in Tuesday’quarter-‰inal

in Cologne while Serie A runners-up

Inter take on Bayer Leverkusen in a

clash of former UEFA Cup champions at

Dusseldorf Arena.

England forward Jesse Lingard, who

played in United’s 2•0 win over Ajax in the

‰inal three years ago, is con‰ident the team

can capture the title for a second time.

“We can’t wait to get there and play this

game now. 100 per cent I want to win it

again,” Lingard told

MUTV

.

“Lifting a trophy is a special feeling

you can’t really explain and winning it

before you take that con‰idence forward.

We have got a mixture of youth and

experience in the squad and for the

young lads to win their ‰irst trophy, it will

be perfect for them.”

Bayern cruise past Chelsea into

Champions League quarters

Chelsea were left needing ‰ive goals to win

and nearly started an improbable comeback

soon after when Callum Hudson-Odoi put the

ball in the net, only to see his goal ruled out for

offside by Tammy Abraham in the buildup.

Abraham did get a goal for Chelsea just

before halftime when Bayern keeper Manuel

Neuer gifted him the ball when clearing

a cross.

Corentin Tolisso added another for Bayern

in the 76

th

when he was left unmarked to meet

a cross fromLewandowski. Then Lewandowski

headed in the fourth off an assist from Alvaro

Odriozola eight minutes later.

Flick said Bayern’s players can have

breakfast with their families before ‰lying

to Portugal and entering the UEFA bubble

for the quarter‰inals onward. Bayern and

Barcelona play each other on Saturday in a

single-game format.
