The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA)
yesterday received 2,000 face
shields, face masks and wet tissues
from Syarikat Aewon Garment and
Embroidery for vendors at markets
under theMunicipal Departments and
District Ofices in a bid to curb the
spread of COVID19 in the country.
Permanent Secretary (Municipal
and District) at the MoHA Salminan
bin Haji Burut received the donation
from Syarikat Aewon Garment and
Embroidery Managing Director Lau
Chai Seng at the MoHA building in
the capital.
Also in attendance were Deputy
Permanent Secretary (Municipal
and District) at the MoHA Abdul
Walid bin Haji Matassan and Aewon
Sherwood Protective Apparel (B)
Sdn Bhd General Manager Justine
Hong as well as oficers from the
ministry and Syarikat Aewon Gar-
ment and Embroidery.
The contribution of personal
protective equipment (PPE) was
aimed at safeguarding stall operators
at marketplaces against the
coronavirus, according to Syarikat
Aewon Garment and Embroidery.

Hospital as a token of appreciation
and support for their hard work and
dedication inhandling theCOVID19
outbreak in the country.
An initiative of Japanese Ambas-
sador to Brunei Darussalam Yama-
moto Eiji and other oficials at the
embassy, the food was delivered
to the hospital by First Secretary
at the Japanese Embassy Aoki
Atsushi.
According to Atsushi, the bento
boxes were specially prepared
by the ambassador’s personal
chef, along with a special cake
decorated with a message of
appreciation from the envoy.
He also stated that during the
SpecialASEAN+3VideoConference
Summit on COVID19, held on April
14, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo
Abe stressed on the importance
of ongoing cooperation between
Southeast Asian and other Asian
region with the mission of ending
the outbreak and returning to the
pre-virus living conditions.
The Japanese leader suggested
for ASEAN to jointly prepare to
battle the virus that spreads
beyond the borders and supported
the establishment of an ASEAN
centre for emerging diseases and
public health emergencies.
ThePrimeMinisteralsopromised
to boost clinical trials for anti-lu
medicine Avigan as the key to
winning against the coronavirus.
The Japanese government has
vouched to offer Avigan at no cost
to more than 40 countries while
expanding research on its eficacy
in treating COVID19 patients.
Japan will also give USD1 million
to the United Nations (UN) to
buy and deliver the medicine to
countries in need.
