(BSP) and Brunei Shell Marketing Company

Sdn Bhd (BSM) handed over contributions

to the Ministry of Health (MoH) as part of

the COVIDƒ19 relief efforts at MoH’s Al-‘AŠiah

Hall yesterday.

The contribution of fuel vouchers for the

Medical Emergency/Critical vehicles, services

under the MoH were presented to Minister of

Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham

bin Haji Jaafar by Managing Director of BSM

Muhammad NorshaŠiee bin Dato Paduka Haji

Abdul Jalil and Managing Director of BSP Dr

Ceri M Powell.

“I am extremely proud of BSM staff for

raising money internally for this unique

initiative to provide fuel for the healthcare

workers on the frontlines of the COVIDƒ19

outbreak. While we provide fuel for the nation,

the healthcare workers are working extremely

hard in protecting and guiding us through this

pandemic,” said Muhammad NorshaŠiee.

Brunei Darussalam recorded no COVIDƒ19

cases for two consecutive days.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato

Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar

at a press conference at the Ministry of Health

(MoH) yesterday.

Alhamdulillah

, by the grace of Allah the

Almighty, the MoH would like to inform the

public that there are no new cases of COVID-

19 infection in the country. The total number

of COVIDƒ19 cases in the Sultanate remains

at 135,” said the minister. He also reminded

that the spread of the COVIDƒ19 infection has

not ended.

“We must continue to abide by the

precautionary measures to reduce the risk of

spreading the infection,” Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji

Mohd Isham said.

NEW YORK (AP) — A tiger at the Bronx Zoo

has tested positive for COVIDƒ19, in what

is believed to be the Širst known infection

in an animal in the United States (US) or a

tiger anywhere, federal ofŠicials and the

zoo said last Sunday.

The four-year-old Malayan tiger named

Nadia — and six other tigers and lions

that have also fallen ill — are believed to

have been infected by a zoo employee

who wasn’t yet showing symptoms, the

zoo said.

The Širst animal started showing

symptoms on March 27, and all are

doing well and expected to recover, said

the zoo, which has been closed to the

public since March 16 amid the surging

COVIDƒ19 outbreak in New York. The test

result stunned zoo ofŠicials, “I couldn’t

believe it,” Director Jim Breheny said.

Twenty people who attended a late-night

party at a hotel last Sunday violating mass

gathering restrictions, which is against

the Infectious Disease Act Chapter 204,

were arrested.

The arrests were made when police

personnel responded to complaints of loud

music from a room on the fourth Šloor.

After forcing their way into the room,

the police and security personnel found 20

adults and teens inside, who were allegedly

drinking and smoking. During inspection, four

partygoers attempted to escape by climbing

down from the balcony to the third Šloor,

towards the room of a person undergoing self-

isolation. The attempt was foiled and they were

detained by the security guards.

Initial investigations found that Šive women

and 15 men aged 16ƒ27 attended the party,

including several uniformed personnel.

The police also found alcoholic beverages

and cigarettes in the room.

Berakas Police Station personnel under the

Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), together with

the Royal Customs and Excise Department and

the Religious Enforcement Unit were contacted

to carry out further investigations.

The detainees will be investigated

under Chapter 204 of the Infectious

Diseases Act and the Syariah Penal

Code Order 2013.

Four of themwill alsoundergo investigation

for trespassing under Section 228 of the

Penal Code, Chapter 22.
