COVID-19: Malaysia records 217 new cases

and three more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR (CNA) - Malaysia reported

217 new cases of COVID†19 yesterday, bring-

ing the total number of people tested posi-

tive to 3,333.

Three situations are needed to be

looked into prior to implementing the

mandatory use of face masks in the

country, spanning from the user, the

state of the society and the density of

the population, and the presence of

community spread.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham

bin Haji Jaafar in response to a ques-

tion on his perspective following a

number of countries implementing

the mandatory use of face masks for

its citizens, at a press conference at

Two videos that went viral on social me-

dia, showing a middle-aged man pur-

portedly beating to death two pup-

pies stuffed into a sack at a house

compound in Kampong Lambak Kanan,

sparked widespread outrage among the

public recently.

Many condemned the alleged mistreat-

ment of the animals, calling it “inhumane”

and “ruthless”.

Brunei Darussalam recorded one con˜irmed

COVID†19 case yesterday, with the country

continuing to record a low number of cases

in the past four days. The total number of in-

fected persons stands at 134.

Nine more cases who received treatment

at the National Isolation Centre have recov-

ered and were permitted to go home. This

brings the total number of persons who have

recovered in the country to 65.
