The COVID 19 relief fund received
BND820,000 donations yesterday
f rom t he Ch i nese commun i t y i n
the country.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji
Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar received the
donations at a ceremony at the Ministry
of Health.
Leading the list of top contributors
for the donation was Pehin Kapitan Lela
Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin who
donated BND200,000, Ong Tiong Oh with
BND100,000 and the ‘
Orang Brunei Yang
Perihatin’
group with BND100,000.
Some 346 members of the Chinese
community nationwide donated to the
fund to assist the MoH in combatting
the COVID 19 pandemic in Brunei
Darussalam.

Two new
COVID-19 cases,
seven more
discharged

Brunei Darussalam recorded only two
COVID- 19 cases yesterday bringing the
total cases in the country to 131.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia
Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar an-
nounced the details at a press confer-
ence at the ministry’s Al-‘Aiah Hall.
Case 130 is a 39-year-old local man
who returned from Kalimantan, Indone-
sia after participating at the Kalimantan
Bike Week event with 32 of his friends.
He has been undergoing self-iso-
lation since arriving into the country
on March 16. He developed persis-
tent cough and underwent labora-
tory test for COVID 19 on March 30, the
minister said.
Case 131 is a 28-year-old who has
undergone self-isolation since his arrival
into the country from the United States
of America via Singapore on-board

March 16.
He started developing minor short-
ness of breath onMarch 21 and submitted
himself for laboratory testing on March
30 after his symptoms worsened.

the grace of Allah the Almighty, seven
more cases treated at the National Isola-
tion Centre have recovered and were al-
lowed to return home, bringing the total
number of people recovered to 52.
“Thismeans that there are 78 cases still
being treated at the centre. Of these, three
are still in a critical condition and require
respiratory assistance at the Intensive
Care Unit (ICU) at the centre, while one
now requires Extracorporeal Membrane
Oxygenation (ECMO) machine usage,
while the rest are in a stable condition.”

The amount of contributions to the COVID-
19 Relief Fund has reached BND1,988,908.19,
said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Ofice
and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato
Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin
Abdullah, at a press conference yesterday.
He also said that theMinistry of Health (MoH)
will allocate some of the money to purchase
medical equipment.
“We wouldn’t know yet how much will be
needed to purchase medical equipment and
other essentials, but it is expected to be one
million from this BND1.9 million fund.”

SINGAPORE (CNA) - A total of 74 new COVID 19
cases were reported in Singapore yesterday,
the highest daily increase to date, bringing the
national total to 1,000 infections.
Of the conirmed cases yesterday, 54 are
local cases who have no recent travel history.
The remaining 20 cases are imported and
have a travel history to Australia, Europe,
South America, Africa, ASEAN and other parts
of Asia.
A total of 29 cases are linked to previous
cases or clusters, while 25 cases are currently
unlinked with contact tracing ongoing,
the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its
daily update.
The mi n i s t r y a l so announced two
new clusters - Lee Ah Mooi Old Age
Home at 1 Thomson Lane, as well as a
workers’ dormitory located at 55 Sungei
Kadut Loop.
A total of 245 cases have fully recovered
and have been discharged from hospitals
or community isolation services. Of the 457
conirmed cases who are still in hospital, most
are stable or improving.
A total of 24 are in critical condition in
the intensive care unit while 291 cases who
are clinically well but still test positive for
COVID 19 are isolated and cared for at Concord
International Hospital, Mount ElizabethHospital,
Gleneagles Hospital and the Community
Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC.
As previously reported, three have died due
to complications from COVID 19.
