KUALA LUMPUR (CNA) - Malaysia

reported a total of €ive deaths related

to COVID†19 yesterday, bringing the

national death toll to eight.

The latest fatalities reported yes-

terday were a 69-year-old Malaysian

man linked to the cluster involving a

mass religious gathering in Kuala Lum-

pur, and a 57-year-old Malaysian man

who had been in close contact with

a con€irmed COVID†19 case who had

attended the religious gathering, and

also had travel history to Vietnam.

A second person fully recovered from COVID-

19 yesterday, while another €ive new positive

cases have been recorded in Brunei, bringing

the total number of cases to 83. One new

con€irmed case is a six-month-old infant.

The latest details were revealed by Minister

of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham

bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference at the

Ministry of Health yesterday.

The minister said Case 79 is a 28-year-old

man who is a close contact of Case 13. Case

13’s early contact tracing found the person

negative following laboratory tests and on

quarantine since March 12. However, he

experienced body ache on March 16. Another

laboratory test was conducted. Following the

latest development, family members staying

with him were also instructed to carry out

another laboratory test and the quarantine

period extended.

A local man who uploaded a video on

Instagram likely to cause a breach of peace

was charged in the Magistrate’s Court

yesterday.

Jamain, 22, is alleged to have uttered

insulting words on the social media

platform, likely to cause a breach of peace

under Section 19 of the Minor Offences

Act, Chapter 30.

While the Ministry of Health has been

regularly advising the public to practise

social distancing which includes reducing

close contact between people to slow

down the spread of infections or diseases,

the 36-second clip uploaded by the

defendant contradicts the advice, the

prosecution said in court.

to be ready in an integrated manner

to shield all from the deadly COVID-

19 virus, to avoid mass gatherings,

be more responsible and intensify

supplication to seek Allah the

Almighty's help.

His Majesty in a special titah aired

over radio and television last night,

also urged the public not to engage

in panic buying and warned retailers

not to increase prices according to

their wishes, as legal action will be

taken against them. “Currently, we

are tested with COVID†19. But we

are not alone. It affects globally.

The pandemic has spread fast,

affecting 180 countries with over

260,000 cases leading to over

11,000 deaths,” His Majesty said.

His Majesty said for three months

since the outbreak, Brunei was

free from COVID†19 while many

countries were affected.

“Brunei was eventually affected

and the source of the outbreak

as the group of Bruneians who

participated in the
